This is a great alternative route to taking a flight to Lukla. Jiri can be reached by drive from Kathmandu. To trek from Jiri gives you good preparation for the Everest base camp trek. The road is never flat as it crosses the grain of the land for the first five days. Lamjura La pass at 3530m is the highest point of this trek just before Lukla, which bestows magnificent display of pink and iliac rhododendron in the Spring. The trek passes through Solukhumbu (before Lukla), that are relatively untouched compared with the northern part of the region. This facilitates trekkers to experience traditional aspects of the culture and the local people.

One of the classic treks in Nepal, Everest base camp/Kalapatthar is most commonly visited as a two-week trek starting and finishing at Lukla. The treks will rewards the trekker with a marvelous vista of mountains, nature and village life. From Lukla trekkers must take a gentle walk up the Dudhkoshi river valley. After entering to Namche Bazaar, your trail will follow towards Imja Valley crossing through windswept forests. Come and see Mount Everest, the mountain known around the world.

Another classic trek in the Annapurna region is to the Annapurna Sanctuary; the site of the base camp used by expeditions attempting the massive south face of Annapurna I. The trek to Annapurna base camp combines some of the most spectacular Himalayan scenery with a fascinating insight into the life of middle hill Nepalese. Spend at least one full day inside the sanctuary, side trips across the south Annapurna glacier, to get a better appreciation of this unique place. Anytime, trekkers must beware of snowfall and avalanches that can block the narrow entrance to the sanctuary.

One of the classic treks in Nepal, is definitely the Annapurna circuit. The complete circuit has only been possible since 1980s when the Manang area was officially opened to foreigners. The area allows you to experience the scenery and culture of Nepal. During the winter season, orange trees are laden with fruit and fragrant frangipani blossoms cast their scent along the trail. As you travel higher, the valley becomes more rugged until the village and forests finally disappear and the arid hills of Manang come. This is a challenging trek that is not without some risks. The crossing over Thorong La can be dangerous at times, especially during the unanticipated snowfall. Therefore, trekkers must make sure that they are well prepared.

The Jomsom trek is probably the single most popular trek in Nepal. The diverse landscapes and cultures to be found along the trek have left lasting impressions on many visitors. The main feature of the trek is walking through the gorge carved by Kaligandaki River that carries water from the Tibetan plateau. Trekkers need to fight against super strongs wind while climbing parts of these mountains.
